Tips and tricks to help ease the stress of wedding planning, right here in New Berlin, WI!
Spring is well on its way! That also means peak Wedding Season is upon us: 71% of weddings take place from early Spring through late fall. That’s a lot of weddings. Wanting to know what's in style for bridal and wedding hair? What’s in style as a wedding guest for hair? Girl, we got you! We are gonna talk about prepping your hair not only for your wedding day but as a guest as well! It can be the hardest decision ever to choose what you want your hair to look like for this special day. You want that picturesque style, something that when you look back on pictures, you are still in love with it. At Hair Solutions Salon and Spa, in New Berlin, WI, we do TONS of bridal and wedding styling! You're in the perfect spot!
Let’s start with our Brides! If having a hair bridal trial isn’t on your To-Do List, we HIGHLY recommend! It gives you time to connect with your stylist, experience different hair styles, and help the actual wedding day go smoother and stress-free! For your trial, we usually recommend that brides come in around 8-10 weeks before the wedding, this ensures clear communication for your hair and keeps the ideas fresh! Now you might be thinking, “what do I even bring to my hair trial?” We recommend bringing a picture of your wedding dress (helps decide what style looks best with the dress), your veil (if you have one, just to see how the veil is incorporated), and your beautiful self of course! Most brides bring someone from their bridal party along to get a second opinion on some styles. They are always welcome, but not required. When your trial is coming to a close, with the style you decide on, it’s best that you wear it out for the rest of the day! Maybe even for your wedding shower or bachelorette party! It’ll feel weird, but this is key to see if the style is going to hold up like it was your actual wedding day!
There are many different types of styles we are seeing here at Hair Solutions Salon: Ponytails, Updos, Half Ups, Low buns, Braids, Twists—you name it, we’ve done it! It all comes back to you as a person, how you normally wear your hair, your face shape, the dress, the season. So many factors can come into play with your hair! A new, upcoming style I’ve been noticing are the ICONIC Hollywood Waves. These voluminous glam waves make you feel like a million bucks on your day! This style and Slicked Back Buns are two of the biggest styles right now for Brides. It’s a great idea to keep the hottest trends in mind so you can figure out if you want to lean into what’s popular, or if you want to stand out a little more. It’s your day, do what feels like you!
Now, let’s talk prep. This step is crucial to helping your style last all day long on your big day! While your stylist will most definitely add products into your hair for a long lasting hold, we got to make sure that pre-appointment prep is in tip top shape! Wash your hair with your normal Shampoo and Conditioner, we suggest to use the Pureology Pure Volume S+C for some added volume and grip to the hair. Once out of the shower, start with a leave-in conditioner spray (our recommendation is the Pureology Color Fanatic 21), next go in with a mousse that can be used on roots, mids, and ends (Pureology Weightless Volume Mousse). Blow dry these products into the hair. The products you use can make or break the longevity of your style for the day!
Here are some little tidbits for my wedding guests that are saying, “Well, what’s appropriate nowadays for a wedding?” Anything! It also comes down to the theme of the wedding, and your outfit for the night. For example, if you’re attending a black tie wedding, steer towards the more elegant and sleek looks (high updos, glam waves, softer half up). If you’re attending a more Boho wedding, go for more braids and twists, messy but put together looks. Something soft, but speaks wedding guests.
Now that we have gone over the trial, the prep, the styles—and even hair inspo for guests—we just about covered everything that comes with the wedding hair! It may seem like a lot for my brides, but most of these tips will definitely help you balance out any extra stress that comes upon you for your hair! Hair Solutions Salon and Spa has always got you covered!
